Boer War British Officers Webley .455 Revolver MK 1 Leather Holster

Here on offer is a Victorian, Boer War period British officers, Webley .455 revolver MK 1 leather holster.

I believe this would have been an officer’s private purchase holster, possibly fitted with some leather straps or loops? There is no maker’s mark that I can see, which is normal with private purchased items.

The belt slots on the back have been stitched up many years ago, probably after the officer finished his service. It would have then just acted as a secure place to keep his revolver safe.

The front still has the flap strap and brass nipple.

The leather stitching is all still in place, even around the circular disc at the bottom.

The leather is in excellent condition and is slightly stiff but remarkably retains the outline shape of the Webley revolver that was kept in it.

I think it could be used for any of the Webley .455 range or revolvers, with a 4” barrel.

It measures approximately 12” (30.5cm) point to point and weighs 135g.
