Antique Victorian Micro Mosaic MALTA Brooch c1880

Here on offer is an antique Victorian micro mosaic MALTA brooch, circa 1880.

This antique Italian micro mosaic brooch has lots of very tiny coloured glass tiles or 'tesserae' that are secured in a gold-tone frame to make up an ornate pattern, including three tiny flowers.

The centre of this antique brooch it has white on black letters that spells out the word MALTA, making this clearly a souvenir from that famous Mediterranean island.

This sweet brooch is in excellent condition and all the tesserae seem to be in place.

On the back it retains its original elongated Victorian pin, that fastens with an old fashioned 'C' type clasp.

It measures 1.5” (3.7cm) wide and weighs 5g.
