WW2 “The Royal Artillery” Sweetheart Brooch by Saunders & Sheppard Limited of Birmingham -1941

Here on offer is fine example of a genuine WW2 period, ‘The Royal Artillery’ sweetheart brooch that was made by Saunders & Sheppard Limited of Birmingham.

A finely detailed gilt brass and enamel regimental crest is suspended from a gilt bar brooch, with a machine turned finish.

There is excellent detail on the crest, even down to the rivets on the gun carriage.

It has the regimental moto set in dark blue enamel:

UBIQUE (Everywhere)
QUO FAS ET GLORIA DUCUNT (Where Right and Glory Lead)

On the reverse of the bar brooch section, it retains its original fixing pin and “C” clasp. There is also a maker’s mark of SS Ltd set in a shield that relates to Saunders & Sheppard Limited of Birmingham.

It is also marked with a Reg. No. 837997, which relates to the year 1941, when the design was registered.

The whole sweetheart brooch is in excellent original condition.

The bar brooch is 1.25” (3.2cm) wide and with the crest is 1.5” (3.8cm) high.

It weighs 6g.
