Unusual 19th Century Large Capacity Brass Spring Loaded Leather Shot Powder Flask with Leather Tassel Collar
Here on offer is an unusual 19th century brass spring loaded leather shot powder flask with leather tassel collar and a larger capacity pouch, circa 1870.
There is no maker visible on this flask, but given the type of brass loading spout, I believe this was made by an English maker, albeit there is another view that because of the leather tassel, it could be American?
The leather pouch on this large Victorian period example is in excellent condition, no holes or splits, just a couple of scuffs and all the stitching is still in place and appears to be sound. The pouch has been flattened so personally I would only use it for display purposes.
The pouch is fitted at the top with a brass, dual setting 1 and 1.1/4 oz, spring operated measure and loading spout mechanism.
It measures 14.5” (37cm) long and 3.5” (9cm) wide across the widest part of the pouch.
It weighs 100g.
