Antique Victorian Court Dress Cocked Moleskin Bicorn Hat c1880

Here on offer is an antique Victorian Court dress cocked bicorn (or bicorne) hat, circa 1880.

It is made from moleskin with black silk and cut steel decoration, by John Morgan & Co. of 5 Albemarle Street, London.

The inside has a padded black silk lining and the maker’s details printed in gold lettering along with the Royal Warrant:

J. MORGAN & CO.
5, ALBEMARLE ST.
LONDON. W.

The hat can be folded flat when not in use.

It is still in remarkably good condition, with wear to the edges, especially the folds and the tips of both ends. Often the steel trims are rusted but this one is still bright. It must have been stored very well over the years.

A great piece for display and could possibly be worn for period costume, if treated carefully.

Size around the inside is approximately 21" (53cm), that is the size of the glass head it is displayed on.

It measures 17.3" (44cm) long end to end and weighs 280g.
