Rare Antique Victorian or Edwardian 15ct Gold Swastika Pendant set with an Amethyst Stone

Here on offer is rare antique Victorian or Edwardian, 15ct gold Swastika pendant set in the center with a diamond cut amethyst stone.

The swastika is an ancient symbol of good luck and prosperity in many cultures, particularly in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, where it is used on homes, religious items, and as a charm to attract good fortune.

Obviously in the early 1930’s and were adopted in Germany for supporters of what was the new Nazi party and are therefore sadly now seen as a sign of hate by many western countries.

I am aware that lot of early Swastika jewellery was obtained by the many members of the Nazi party for there ladies to wear as symbols of their allegiance to the Nazi party. This maybe what happened with this beautiful piece, who knows?

This Swatika shaped plain pendant has been made from 15ct gold with a beautiful diamond cut amethyst stone set into the centre, that protrudes through the gold so it can be seen from both sides. It also still retains its original 15ct gold suspension loop.

On the reverse is stamped “15” indicating it is made of 15ct grade gold.

It also has what appears to be a maker’s mark being the letters “ST”.

I have been unable find out a gold jewellery maker with this mark? It may have been a provincial piece?

My understanding is that 15ct gold was primarily used in the UK from 1854 to 1932, becoming a popular standard during the Victorian and Edwardian eras.

It was then replaced by the 14ct standard after 1932.

Before standardization: 15ct gold was in use during the later Georgian period, though it was not an official standard.

It became an official standard in the UK in 1854, alongside 12ct and 9ct, to support the more elaborate metalwork needed for intricate Victorian and Edwardian designs.

The pendant is in beautiful condition, with just s slight scratch to one of the arms on the reverse.

Given the price of 15ct gold is getting £60/gram in October 2025, the scrap value alone is over £100 on this piece! God forbid anyone would scrap it!

This is just a stunning piece of antique jewellery in its own right.

The gold Swastika measures 0.6” (1.6cm) square and weighs 2g.
