Pre WW2 Gilt Metal Swastika Token “FOR TWO YEARS OF GOOD LUCK - GOOD LUCK” c1930

Here on offer is a gilt metal Swastika token or jeton, with the inscription “FOR TWO YEARS OF GOOD LUCK - GOOD LUCK”, circa 1930.

A Swastika jeton, which is a token bearing a swastika symbol, was used as a symbol of good luck and prosperity in the Western world before and during the early 20th century. These tokens were popular decorative items for various crafts, advertising, and merchandise, sometimes including symbols for luck within the swastika's arms.

They appeared in various forms:

As a lucky charm: The Swastika was a widely recognized symbol of good fortune and success in the West from about 1890 to 1940.

For trade and crafts: Native American artisans used the Swastika on crafts like rugs, pottery, and baskets sold to tourists.

In advertising and design: The symbol appeared on items from major brands like Coca-Cola and Carlsberg (see my item 51535), as well as in advertising and product design.

In military units: The 45th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army used a Swastika as its unit symbol until the 1930s.

Other uses: The swastika was also adopted by organizations like the Boy Scouts and the Girls' Club of America.

This ornately decorated Swastika token is in excellent condition retaining a lot of its original gilt finish and its suspension ring.

There is no maker’s mark or name on it, but I believe it was made in the USA.

This hexagonal shaped token measures 0.8” (2cm) across the flats and weighs 3g.
