Rare 21st Parachute Regiment - 50th Anniversary of Arnhem Presentation Box to a Malcolm Van White, that contains a FS Knife and Para Patches

Here on offer is a rare 21st Parachute Regiment, 50th anniversary of Arnhem, presentation case to Malcolm Van White.

My understanding is a number of these presentation cases were given to members of the 21st Para Regiment in 1994, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the battle of Arnhem in 1944.

The hinged light wood case has brass catches and a leather carrying handle.

On the front it has a brass plaque etched with:

ARNHEM
1944

Then inside the lid are two other brass plaques, one engraved with:

No1 PLATOON
21st INDEPENDENT
PARACHUTE REGIMENT

The other with:

FIRST IN

A name has also been printed in black ink that I assume is who it was presented too, that reads as:

MALCOLM VAN WHITE

Inside it is lined with green felt and contains a 3rd pattern FS fighting knife, old and new style Para Jump Wings and a Regimental Badge with lugs removed, fixed to a red felt patch.

The modern issue 3rd Pattern FS fighting knife, is in mint condition and was made by John NOWILL & SONS of Sheffield.

It has a 7” double-edged blade in forged carbon steel with blued finish.

The cast metal alloy handle has a steel oval guard and a hexagonal nut pommel, all with a blued finish.

At base of the handle, it has the J. NOWILL trademarks, being the ‘D’, star and cross-keys.

Then on the top of the oval guard is stamped with the NATO and Crowfoot marks along with the maker’s details:

SHEFFIELD
ENGLAND

It comes with a black leather stitched and riveted sheath, with slotted belt loop.

The case measures 13.2” (33.5cm) by 6.5” (16.5cm) and with all the contents weighs 700g.
