Vintage Folding Lock Knife by Herbertz CJH with Etched Eagle Motif on the Blade

Here on offer is a mint example of a vintage collectors lock knife by Herbertz CJH of Solingen.

The grip is made up of a richly grained section of Pakka wood on each side, held in place by four brass pins. To the bras liners. There is a brass lined lanyard hole at the end.

My understanding is that Pakka wood is a man-made, wood-resin composite material created by impregnating thin layers of hardwood with coloured resin and bonding them under pressure and heat. This process creates a durable, water-resistant, and stable material that is frequently used for knife handles, as it is very hardwearing. It is known for its ability to mimic the appearance of exotic hardwoods and its resistance to warping, splitting, and moisture.

The large bolster is made from a lightly burnished stainless steel.

The top edge of the spring plate is polished steel with a recessed locking release area at the base.

The sharp folding 3.25” single edged spear point blade is made from 420 stainless steel. On the front side it is etched with a black and gold image of an eagle’s head with a scrolling leaf design.

It also has the maker’s name and details stamped on the blade tang:

The knife is in mint unused condition and is possible a limited edition piece?

The blade measures 3.25” (8.3cm) long with a cutting edge of 2.4” (6.7cm) and the knife when opened is 7” (17.8cm) in total length.

It weighs 116g including the box.
