Beautiful Antique Mother of Pearl and Hallmarked Silver Pedestal Dish by William Vale & Sons 1922
Here on offer is a truly stunning antique mother of pearl shell and hallmarked silver pedestal caviar dish by William Vale & Sons, dated to 1922.
The beautiful polished natural mother of pearl, also known as nacre shell dish, has been fitted to a circular sterling silver pedestal crafted by the silversmith’s William Vale & Sons.
The pedestal has a set of English silver hallmarks, the Lion Passant for English silver (925), three wheatsheaves and an upright dagger for the assay office of Chester and the date letter “W” for the year 1922.
It also shows the makers mark that are the letters “WV&S”, that relates to the silversmith of William Vale & Sons.
William Vale & Sons was a British silversmith company, based in Birmingham, primarily known for producing high-quality, collectible sterling silver items, that now command high prices.
The dish is in perfect condition with no damage to the beautiful natural shell.
The dish measures 3.8” (9.7cm) by 2” (5cm) and is 1.75” (4.5cm) tall.
It weighs 71g.
