Rare WW1 British Grocers Federation Christmas 1914 George V Sweet Tin
Here on offer is a genuine and rare WW1 British Grocers Federation Christmas 1914, George V confectionary tin.
These tins of sweets were sent to the soldiers at the front line by the British Grocer's Federation as a morale boost.
The cylindrical tin is empty and is decorated on front with the Union Flag and head and shoulders portrait of King George V, enclosed within a crowned holly wreath.
At the base of which is a scroll marked:
HIS MAJESTY
KING GEORGE V
The reverse of the tin bears a wreath of holly enclosing the text: '

This genuine tin now has the small oval lid missing and shows signs of paint chipping to the finish. (please see my photos) The tin is sound with no splits, just a couple of small dents on the back.
It measures 4.9” (11.8cm) by 3.9” (9.8cm) by 1.9” (4.7cm) and weighs 94g.
