Fine Hallmarked Silver “Nobel Bullet” Spoon by Tiffany & Co - 1933
Here on offer is a scarce hallmarked silver “Nobel Bullet” spoon by Tiffany & Co, date to 1933.
Tiffany & Co. "Nobel Bullet" spoons are rare and made in the early 20th-century, as sterling silver souvenir or tea spoons that featured a distinct bullet motif on the handle, often associated with shooting memorabilia.
These solid sterling silver teaspoons have a raised bullet design at the top, that is normally engraved with the word “NOBEL”. This spoon just has the raised letters “CI” on the bullet, possible a commissioned example with the owner’s initials?
On the back of the spoon handle are a clear set of English silver hallmarks and a Registered design No. 764310, which means this particular design was registered in 1931/2.
The hallmarks are an anchor for the assay office of Birmingham, the Lion Passant for English silver and the date letter “J” for the year 1933.
There is also the makers mark “T & Co”, which relates to Tiffany & Co, the world-renowned American luxury jeweller founded in 1837 by Charles Lewis Tiffany and John B. Young in New York City.
The spoon is in excellent condition and is an unusual version of this type of shooting memorabilia.
It measures 4.6” (11.6cm) long and weighs 13g.
