Short British Military Police Lignum Vitae Truncheon - Possibly WW2 Period

Here on offer is what I am told is a short version of a British Military Police truncheon, that may relate to the WW2 period?

It has been very well made from what looks to be lignum vitae or a very dark and dense African hardwood.

It retains a military khaki coloured webbing strap that is securly stitched in place around the top of the turned finger grip handle. It now shows areas of fraying and is in a delicate condition at the top, where it is stitched together.

These smaller truncheons are actually hard to come by in such good condition and this one was possibly supplied by ‘Hiatt’, a main supplier of equipment to the UK Military Police Force.

The truncheon is in excellent/near mint condition with just light surface scratches and dings.

It measures 12.75” (32.4cm) long, by 1.4” (3.5cm) diameter at the wide end.

It weighs a heavy 305g.
