Antique Victorian Silver Rimmed Horn Beaker with Spotted Pattern and a Blank Silver Cartouche c1890
Here on offer is a fine example of a Victorian silver rimmed horn beaker with a spotted pattern and a blank silver oval cartouche on the front, circa 1890.
The beaker has been made very well made with a light almost transparent cylindrical section of horn. The outside has been marked with a symmetrical pattern of dark spots, making this an impressive and unusual piece.
The top metal rim is unmarked, but tests for sterling silver, as does the oval cartouche, fitted to the front.
The base seems to be fitted with a dark section of horn, that still makes a tight seal.
The beaker is in excellent condition and can still hold fluids.
It measures 4.1” (10.5cm) tall and 2.7” (6.8cm) diameter at the top.
It weighs 74g.
