Vintage Plummet Major Throwing Knife by J. Nowill and Sons Sheffield with Leather Sheath

Here on offer is a fine example of a vintage Plummet Major throwing knife by J. Nowill and Sons of Sheffield, complete with its original leather sheath.

This throwing knife has been made using a full tang construction. The double-edged thick spear tip blade and is made of a high quality mirror polished stainless steel. It now has some patches of darkening and very light pitting to the surfaces.

On one side it is lightly etched with:

Plummet Major
Throwing Knife

and the maker’s name:

Nowill
Sheffield

The plain grip scales are made from ebony hardwood and are held securely in place by two large stainless steel flat rivets.

John Nowill & Sons have been making high quality knives for over six generations. They are the parent company for three other old established Sheffield knife makers, F.E & J. R. Hopkinson, J. Adams Co. and Austin McGillivray & Company.

It comes with its original brown leather sheath that is in excellent condition and it still retains its retaining strap.

The knife is in great condition making a fine collector’s example of this vintage throwing knife.
The blade section measures 4” (10.2cm) long and the whole knife is 7.4” (18.8cm) long.

It weighs 128g.
