WW2 German Cigarette Case fitted with a WW2 Deutsches Jungvolk DJ Membership Badge

Here on offer is a WW2 German cigarette case fitted with a WW2 Deutsches Jungvolk DJ membership badge.

This small early cigarette case seems to be nickel plated and shows some signs of wear to the back and the curved edges on the top.

The top lid has been fitted with a WW2 Deutsches Jungvolk DJ membership badge, that is in great condition, with no damage to the enamel. The badge does look to be original and the type with the smooth red enamel in the centre.

It has a spring release catch on the front edge, that is in working order.

The case opens and closes well and the gilt interior retains the two small metal brackets that would have originally been fitted with the elastic straps used to hold the cigarettes in place.

Some history about the DJ.

Founded in 1928, the Deutsches Jungvolk in der Hitlerjugend DJ, also DJV; German for "German Youngsters in the Hitler Youth", was the separate section for boys aged 10 to 14 of the Hitler Youth (HJ) organisation in Nazi Germany.

Through a programme of outdoor activities, parades and sports, it aimed to indoctrinate its young members in the tenets of Nazi ideology. Membership became fully compulsory for eligible boys in 1939. By the end of WW2 some had become child soldiers.

After the end of the war in 1945, both the Deutsches Jungvolk and its parent organization, the Hitler Youth, ceased to exist.

The case is in great condition with some minor indentations and minor plating loss.

It measures 3.25” (8.3cm) by 2.6” (6.6cm) and weighs 60g.
