Two Unique Early Custom Made Neck Knives by Daniel M. Certo of Marshall, NC. USA. 2001

Here on offer two unique and early custom made neck knives by the well-respected bladesmith Daniel M. Certo of Marshall, NC. USA. 2001.

I acquired these two neck knives along with a custom knife (item 52217) directly from Dan Certo, of DMC Originals of Marshall, NC, USA, back in 2002, and they have been in my collection ever since.

It comes with some provenance, being a hand written and signed card by Dan Certo himself, explaining the details about the knifes construction and dated 12th August 2001. I think these are possibly the only two neck knives he ever made in his shop, as he states amusingly on the card, that “They are mostly just for fun but are heat treated and will hold an edge and cut like a larger knife”. This card is also included with the sale of these knives.

His early knives are now highly collectable and command high prices, such as a 2002 plain bowie knife recently selling for $1200!

I believe Dan Certo of DCM originals, is now also the owner of RELENTLESS KNIVES in Marshall, North Carolina.

He is now known for his handmade tactical, survival & combat utility knives that are made to withstand extreme conditions and are proven in the field by experts from the elite branches of the military and by police units and are also great for camping, hiking, hunting and personal protection needs.

These neck knives are very early and unique examples of his work and they are in excellent/mint condition.

Both knives are made from high grade carbon steel but need to be kept lightly oiled to stop them rusting.

The mini knife/dagger is made from 5160H carbon steel, with a bocote wooden handle and comes with a black Kydex sheath.

The mini tanto knife is made from 1095H carbon steel and has a leather wrapped handle with a black Kydex sheath.

Both of the knife blades are engraved with his signature and dated 2001.

Each of the custom shaped Kydex sheaths have a long metal neck chain that measures 28” long.

This is a great opportunity to obtain these rare and unique neck knives that although not cheap, will only go up in value.

The mini knife/dagger measures 3.65” (9.2cm) long and the tanto knife measures 3.6” (9.2cm) long.

Together with their sheaths and chains, they weigh 63g.
