WW1 British Army Officer’s Knife from a Combination Cutlery Set by Levi & Salaman Limited of Birmingham

Here on offer is a WW1 British Army Officer’s knife from a combination cutlery set by Levi & Salaman Limited of Birmingham.

The knife has a 3.5” steel blade with a flat nickel silver handle.

On one side of the handle, it is stamped with:

NS L & S Ltd

The NS notes it is made from Nickel Silver and the L &S ltd relates to the maker, Levi and Salaman limited of Birmingham, England.

They were manufacturers of silver jewellery, table ware, small silver goods and souvenir novelties active from 1870 until their amalgamation with Barker Brothers in 1921.

Then on the other side of the handle, it is stamped with the word TOP.

Originally as part of a cutlery set, it would have slotted against the fork and fitted into the spoon slotted handle, to hold the set together. Please see may last photo, of the set, but this sale is ONLY for the KNIFE.

The knife itself is in great condition with the blade now showing some age staining and light pitting to the finish.

The whole knife measures 7.3” (18.6cm) long, with a 3.55” (8.9cm) blade.

It weighs 33g.
