Vintage Girl Guides Knife with Marlin Spike by Gill Herbert & Co. of Sheffield

Here on offer is a vintage Girl Guides knife with marlin spike made by Gill Herbert of Sheffield.

This Girl Guide knife has a 2.25” folding steel blade and a 2.5” folding marlin spike.

It is stamped on one side of the blades ricasso with the maker’s details, being:

GILL
HERBERT
& Co.
SHEFFIELD

The steel blade now shows signs of sharpening and some light pitting to the finish.

The marlin spike is in excellent condition and retains a great finish to the steel.

The flat grip scales seem to be made from nickel silver and on one side it is stamped with:

GIRL GUIDE KNIFE

At one end of it has a swivel lanyard ring normally used to connect it to a belt.

When closed the knife measures 3.5” (8.9cm) long, including the ring.

It weighs 45g.
