Post WW2 Royal Signals Catterick Camp Permanent Pass Booklet and Silver and Enamel Sweetheart Brooch
Here on offer is a post WW2 Royal Signals Catterick Camp Permanent Pass booklet and a Royal Corps of Signals, silver and enamel sweetheart brooch.
I am offering both these items together as that is how they came into my possession.
The folding permanent pass booklet is made from fabric covered thick card, with the Royal Signals crest on the front, in black ink.
Inside it states it is a Royal Signals O.C.T.U., Catterick Camp, Permanent Pass.
Royal Signals O.C.T.U. stands for Royal Corps of Signals Officer Cadet Training Unit. It was a specialized training unit, particularly active during and after WW2, responsible for training potential officers for the British Army's Royal Corps of Signals.
I was issued to a P. Barnes, service no. 19127987, on 12th March 1948. It shows it was also renewed every three months, the last date being September 1948.
It came with a nice WW2 period Royal Corps of Signals, silver and enamel sweetheart brooch. It depicts the regimental crest on the front of a bar brooch fitting and looks to be made from silver, albeit it is not marked as such.
The Pass Booklet measures 3.25” (8.2cm) by 2.5” (6.4cm) and the bar brooch is 2” (5cm) wide.
