Mint Small VENTURE Bowie Knife with 3” Blade and Stacked Leather Grip by H.M. Slater of Sheffield
Here on offer is a mint example of a small VENTURE hunting bowie knife with a stacked leather grip made by H.M. Slater of Sheffield.
This bowie/hunting knife is in mint condition and has a 3” highly polished steel blade.
On one side of the blades ricasso it is stamped with the maker’s details:

Herbert Marriott Slater was a prominent early 20th-century Sheffield cutler who founded Herbert M. Slater Ltd in 1907 at the Venture Works on Arundel Street Sheffield.
His firm was a successful manufacturer of pocket knives, razors, and cutlery, often recognized by the trademarks VENTURE or BEEHIVE.
It has a brass single finger guard and brass and black ringed spacers at both ends of the smooth stacked leather grip.
At the top it is fitted with a solid oval shaped polished aluminium pommel.
There is no sheath with this example.
This finely made knife is in mint condition and is unusual to find in this size.
The knife has a 3” (7.6cm) blade and the whole knife measures 5.75” (14.6cm) long.
It weighs 36g.
