Large Antique Leather Dog Collar with Pointed Brass Studs and Blank Name Plaque
Here on offer is a good example of a large antique leather dog collar with pointed brass studs.
This thick leather dog collar has a brass buckle and lead ring and is fitted with 41 pointed brass studs and a vacant gilt name plaque.
A lot of the studs have had their tips compressed over years of usage, but are all still firmly in place. They also now have a dark aged patina to the finish, which could be cleaned up to a bright finish if required.
The name plaque also shows signs of plating loss to the gilt finish, but remains blank and ready to have a dog’s name etched into it!
The leather is in great condition, with some signs of age cracking and I would suggest that it would benefit from a leather balm treatment, if it was to be used again.
This is actually an impressive collar that could be used again or it just makes an interesting display piece.
End to end it measures 24” (61cm) long and from end of the buckle to the first buckle fastening hole it measures 19” (48.4) and to the last hole 22” (56cm). It is 1.2” (3cm) wide.
It weighs 165g.
