Here on offer is a WW2 British Military Two-Piece Clasp or Jack Knife by L. WILSON Sheffield dated 1940

This two-piece type of clasp knife, has a single 2.5” plain blade and a bottle/can opener that is stamped on one side with a broad arrow above the date 1940 and the maker’s details being:

L. WILSON
SHEFFIELD

Finally, there is a flat headed screwdriver at front end.

It has chequered black Bakelite grip scales that are in excellent/mint condition and held in place by a large rivet, (which also acts as a pivot for blade), a secondary smaller rivet and lanyard loop securing pin.

The lanyard loop on this example is made from copper, not the usual steel version.

The blade and tools fold into the grip, making it compact and easy to carry. I have lightly oiled (with gun oil) the blade/tool joints as they are stiff to open.

I would say this knife has never been used or has only seen very light use. The steel blade still has a sharp cutting edge with just some age staining to the metal finish, as does the can opener.

The knife is in excellent, near mint condition for a knife that is 86 years old.

The blade cutting edge measures 2.5” (7cm) long and the knife when closed is 3.75” (9.5cm) long, excluding the lanyard ring.

It weighs 132g.
