Mint BUCK 110 Lockback Knife with Scarce “Idaho” Mark dating it to 2005
Here on offer is a BUCK 110 Lockback Knife in mint condition with the Scarce “Idaho” Mark, that dates it to 2005.
The Buck 110 is a top quality legendary American-made lockback knife, first introduced in 1962.
It has a 3.75” (9.5cm) clip point blade with a crescent tip and a traditional nail nick for two-handed opening. It is made of 420HC stainless steel, hollow-ground and cryogenically treated with the renowned Paul Bos heat treatment for exceptional edge retention. It is hardened to the standard Rc58.
What is possibly unique about this example is the previous owner has made a small brass cylindrical “Pull” that fits securely to the top edge of the blade, meaning you can now open it with just a flick of your thumb. The “Pull” has been very well made and in my opinion enhances the knife, but can be easily removed if it is not required.
On one side of the ricasso it is stamped with:
BUCK
110
USA
Along with the date mark/code, being the outline of “Idaho” state, dating this knife to the year 2005.
Instead of the typical geometric symbols (like arrows, dots, or letters) used in adjacent production years, 2005 blades are uniquely stamped with a small outline of the state of Idaho.
The 2005 production year is highly sought after by collectors, as it marks the exact year Buck Knives moved their headquarters and production from El Cajon, California, to Post Falls, Idaho.
The grip is made up of Macassar Ebony Dymondwood (resin-treated hardwood) grip scales that are paired with solid, heavy-gauge brass bolsters and liners.
It also features the heavy-duty and secure back lock that made the Buck 110 famous.
The knife is in mint unused condition and makes a great addition to any knife collection, now being over 20 years old.
The blade measures 3.75” (9.5cm) long and the knife, with the blade closed, measures 4.9” (12.5cm) long.
It weighs 210g.
