Mint Kissing Crane KC 48 Stag Grip Manual Folding Stiletto Knife Marked Germany

Here on offer is a mint example of a manual folding stiletto lock back knife, with a 4” blade, stag horn grip, manufactured in Italy for (Robert Klass) KISSING CRANE and engraved Germany.

Now, there seems to be a lot of discussion on blade forums about these knives, but my understanding is that this older vintage version of a KISSING CRANE stiletto, was actually made in Italy, albeit the blade is marked GERMANY.

Apparently, Germany has no country of origin laws, so things can get dicey when it comes to German cutlery. For years, a number of manufacturers and importers have had cheap knives made for them using German designs, importing them into Germany. They then stamp "Germany" on them, and sell them domestically or send them around the world.

It also appears that from around 2009, ALL knife production of KISSING CRANE knives, was transferred to China, now making these older Italian made examples very collectable.

It has a polished 4” stainless steel pointed blade with a 3.5” sharp single cutting edge.

On one side it is etched with the image of a stiletto dagger and the word STILETTO. Also:

KC48
GERMANY

and on the ricasso, the KISSING CANE logo.
On the other side it is stamped:

KC48
ROSTFREI

The blade has a nail pull grove to manually open it and it locks securely in place. You then press the release latch on the top edge to fold and close the blade.

The grip is made up from two fine genuine stag horn scales, that are held in place by three brass pins.
On the front it is inset with a KISSING CRANE logo brass disc.

It has polished brass bolsters and a slightly hook shaped finger guard.

The blade measures 4” (10.2cm) long with a 3.5” (8.8cm) cutting edge and the knife is 9” (22.7cm) long when open.

It weighs 94g.
