Miniature Kukri Knife with Engraved Dedication to “Major A.O.L Burke 7th Gurkha Rifles” of the Indian Army WW2

Here on offer is a miniature kukri knife with engraved dedication to “Major A.O.L Burke 7th Gurkha Rifles”.

The scale of the miniature knife is “spot on” with it’ is perfectly shaped brass blade and carved wooden grip that mimics the genuine Kukri knife very well.

On one side of the blade, it is engraved with a dedication to “Major A.O.L Burke 7th Gurkha Rifles”.

In WW2, Major Anthony Owen Leo Burke, served with the 7th Gurkha Rifles in the Indian Army. He was sadly killed in action on 17th of February 1942 aged 43 during the Burma Campaign in WW2.

According to the CWGC records, Major Anthony Owen Leo Burke, Service Number: 244/IA, is commemorated on Face 67 at the Rangoon memorial, Myanmar. He has no known burial site.

He was mentioned in despatches and was the son of Peter Joseph and Mary Ellen Burke and the husband of Betty Burke.

He also served in the Royal Dublin Fusiliers.

The scabbard seems to have a wood base covered in black leather material with a belt loop and brass tip.

Not only is this a great miniature, is a wonderful piece of WW2 memorabilia, to a brave officer, who gave his life for his country during WW2.

The blade measures 3.75” (9.5cm) long and the knife is 6.1” (15.5cm) in total length.

With the scabbard, it weighs 54g.
