Issued Cold War era RAF Aircrew Pocket Book - RAF Form No. 443

Here on offer is a great used example of a cold war era RAF Aircrew Pocket Book, RAF Form No. 443.

This RAF Aircrew Pocket Book is an official Royal Air Force folder used by pilots and flight crew to organize and protect essential, time-sensitive operational documents in-flight.

Historically issued during the Cold War and they have been continually revised.

It includes 28 clear PVC internal sleeves, allowing crew members to keep their notes and flight data clean and dry. This example also has a printed acetate sheet which is the UK National Grid overlay and protractor for 1/2M 1/4M and 1:50,000 maps.
Some of the clear sleaves show the print from the documents that have been inserted into them, during its use.

Cryptographic Data:
Aircrew often use Form 443 to safely store and display extracts of code and cryptographic systems, slipping the extraction underneath the clear acetate sheets in the knee-pad or the pocket book itself.

Operational Logs:
Pilots utilize the clear sleeves to hold essential mission information, airfield plates, and quick-reference survival data.

The standardized green ring binder measures approximately 9” (23cm) by 5.75” (14.5cm) and it weighs 450g.
