Impressive WW2 Theatre made 7.25” Bowie Blade Fighting Knife with Wooden Grip and Canvas Sheath

Here on offer is an impressive WW2 “Theatre” made 7.25” Bowie blade fighting knife with wooden grip scales and a stitched khaki canvas sheath.

WW2 theatre-made Bowie knives are custom, hand-crafted fighting knives produced by service members, local machinists, or shipboard armorers in active combat zones during WW2. No two knives are identical, reflecting the personal taste and available scrap materials of the maker or user.

They feature distinct Bowie-style clip-point blades, often repurposed from standard military surplus, and are prized as unique historical artifacts.

The blades were frequently cut down or reshaped from military bayonets, cut-down machetes, or scrap steel.

This fine example has a 7.25” polished steel Bowie shaped blade, with a full tang. It is about 1.5” wide but I am not sure what it has been repurposed from? It is a high grade steel, and shows no signs of rust or pitting, just cutting edge sharpening marks.

It has a large rectangular steel finger guard that looks to have been welded to the end of the blade, making a very strong bond.

The wooden, possible cedar, grip scales are held in place by two brass screws, with recessed hexagonal nuts.

It comes with a hand stitched khaki canvas sheath, with belt loop and retaining loop at the top.

This is actually a really impressive bowie knife that is well balanced to hold.

The blade measures 7.25” (18.4cm) and the whole knife measures 11.9” (30cm) long.

It weighs 445g.
