Vintage Folding Two-Piece Stainless Steel “Yachtmaster” Knife with Marlin Spike by J. Nowill & Sons Sheffield

Here on offer is a vintage folding two-piece stainless steel “Yachtmaster” knife with marlin spike, by J. Nowill & Sons of Sheffield.

It has a 2.75” polished stainless steel blade that is in excellent condition and has the maker’s details stamped on one side of the ricasso:

J. NOWILL & SONS
SHEFFIELD

Along with the trademark of the “Crossed Keys” and “Star” above the letter “D”.

On the other ricasso, it is stamped with:

STAINLESS
ENGLAND

John Nowill & Sons have been making high quality knives for over six generations. They are the parent company for three other old established Sheffield knife makers, F.E & J. R. Hopkinson, J. Adams Co. and Austin McGillivray & Company.

It also has a 2.5” long folding stainless steel marlin spike that is in great order.

The grip plates are also made from stainless steel and on one side it is engraved with:

“Yachtmaster”

Finally, it has a stainless steel swivel lanyard ring, which when positioned vertically, actually stops the two tools being opened. You just move it 90 degrees and they can be opened.

This knife is in excellent condition, just a couple of light storage marks to the stainless steel grip and some small areas of darkening on the marlin spike.

The blade measures 2.75” (7cm) and the marlin spike is 2.5” (6.4cm) long.

It weighs 82g.
