Here on offer is a vintage “VENTURE” 3” Lambsfoot bolstered pocket knife with a black composite stag grip, by H.M. SLATER of Sheffield.
H.M. Slater (Herbert Marriot Slater) was a historic cutlery and knife manufacturing business based in Sheffield, England, founded in the early 20th century. The company was famous for producing pocket knives, military clasp knives, and hunting bowie knives under the trademark "Venture". It cessed production in the late 1980’s.
It has a 3" Lambsfoot stainless steel blade that is stamped on the ricasso with the maker’s details:
VENTURE
H.M. SLATER
SHEFFIELD
The blade is very stiff to open and locks in place securely, without any wobble.
The grip scales are made of a black composite and have been made to imitate a stag antler finish. The are fixed to the steel liners by three steel pins and fit snuggly against the brass bolster.
This knife is in near mint condition, with just some very light age staining to the blade finish.
The blade measures 3” (7.5cm) long and the knife itself is a total of 7” (17.8cm) long when open.
It weighs 64g.
