Vintage Captain Currey Lockspike Stainless Steel Bosun’s Knife with Serrated Blade, Marlin Spike and Shackle Key Slot

Here on offer is a vintage Captain Currey Lockspike stainless steel Bosun’s knife with serrated blade, marlin spike and shackle key slot.

On the front grip plate, it is marked with:

CURREY LOCKSPIKE
BOSUN

This example has the more unusual 2.4” (6cm) serrated blade that has a hole near the tip and is stamped with the maker’s details on the ricasso, being:

C. CURREY LTD
CHICESTER
ENGLAND
STAINLESS

Then it has a lockable spike that can only be opened when the lanyard loop is moved about 90 degrees.


Finally, there is an integral shackler shackle key slot in the main body of the grip.

This knife looks to have had very minimal use, still retaining a very sharp cutting edge on the blade. It is still in excellent condition with just very light scuff marks to the lower curved edge
of the grip.

The blade and tool fold into the grip, making it compact and easy to carry. I have lightly oiled (with gun oil) the blade/tool joints.

The blade cutting edge measures 2.4” (6cm) long and the knife when closed is 3.6” (9.2cm) long, excluding the lanyard ring.

It weighs 80g.
