WW2 British Army 2-Piece Jack Knife by John Clarke & Son Sheffield dated 1941

Here on offer is a WW2 British Army 2- piece jack knife by John Clarke & Son of Sheffield, dated to 1941.

This example is the less common type, that was made for the British Army, without the marlinspike.

It has a single 2.5” sheepsfoot blade that is stamped on the ricasso with the makers details:

The steel blade retains a lot of its original sheepsfoot shape, but shows signs of rough sharpening and some rust pitting and greying to the finish.

It also has a sharp tipped can opener, that is stamped on one side with a Broad Arrow and the year date 1941.

When both tools are closed into the grip, it shows the fixed flat headed screwdriver.

The grip plates are made from chequered Bakelite grip plates are in great condition with no cracks, but on one side has a small circular melt mark, where it clearly has rested against something hot during its service.

At the end is a large steel swivel lanyard loop.

Both of the folding tools are tight and still snap open and shut with no wobble.

The blade cutting edge measures 2.4” (6cm) long and the knife when closed is 3.75” (9.5cm) long, excluding the lanyard ring.

It weighs 130g.
