Vintage British Royal Navy Deck Knife with Leather Sheath by J. Nowill & Sons dated 1989

Here on offer is a fine, near mint example of a vintage British Royal Navy deck knife with black leather sheath dated to 1989.

This knife is in near mint condition and looks like it has never been used.

The steel blade has a bright finish and you can still see the original cross graining on both sides. It just has a couple of small dark stains on the reverse near the cutting edge.

On the front it is clearly etched with the maker’s details:

J. NOWILL & SONS
SHEFFIELD. ENGLAND

It also has the broad arrow (crow’s foot) mark, year of manufacture 1989 and what I think is a NATO stock reference number: 4375939.

The grip is made up from two dark rosewood slabs that are held in place by two large flush brass rivets.

The stitched black leather sheath has slots on the reverse for a belt and is in mint condition.

The blade measures 4.2” (10.6cm) long and the complete knife is 8” (20.4cm) long.

It weighs 100g.
