Antique Gilded Bronze Ashtray Depicting a Scene of a WW1 French Soldier marked E. Herzic
Here on offer is an antique gilded bronze ashtray depicting a scene of a WW1 French soldier and marked E. Herzic.
The selected item appears to be an antique gilded bronze military scene ashtray/dish, signed by the French artist E. Herzic, who I believe was active in Paris during the early 20th century.
It depicts, in fine detailing, a WW1 French soldier in uniform, laying in a dugout or crater. He appears to be ready to throw a grenade and is just raising his head enough to see over the edge, towards his target.
Just inside the edge of the ashtray, it has the name artists name, E. Herzic.
It is in excellent condition retaining nearly all of its original gilt finish and it makes a great display piece for any WW1 collection.
It measures 5.9” (15cm) by 3.8” (9.8cm) and weighs a heavy 775g.
